Maple Chest with Parquet Inlay

The parquetry design begins with octagonal paduk and yellow heart stock. Thin triangular strips of maple are glued to every other face of the octagon, resulting in a square. These pieces are glued together in a jig to form a rectangular block. The block is then thinly sliced and the pieces are inlaid into the chest panels.
