My goal is to design and build original furniture that is functional, balanced and pleasing to the eye. If all goes well, the end product adds interest to a space and is a joy to use. I find inspiration in the aesthetics of eastern and western furniture-making traditions. The styles that especially interest me include Japanese, Scandinavian, early American, and mid-century American.

I work in a converted two-level carriage house built around the turn of the century.  Each floor is 10 by 16 feet, for a total of 320 square feet. The structure previously served as a one car garage above and potting shed below. All pieces are made using a combination of conventional woodworking machines and hand tools—whichever is best for the particular task. The wood materials span a broad range, including domestic and exotic hardwoods, and softwoods.
